We met this morning for breakfast and left the hotel shortly afterward. We started down the road for another 2-hour bus ride. As I told our driver, everything in Scotland seems to be 2 hours away. We stopped in Aberfeldy and got ready for our white water rafting experience. That included wet suits, and mine was wet. Now, have you ever tried to put on a full body wet suit that is wet? Not easy. They had us all decked out in wet suits, life jackets, and helmets, and the actual river was like floating the Marias. There was one rapid where the British and Scottish Olympic kayak teams practice, but other than that it was very tame. I did get splashed full in the face by the water. Our guide was teasing me about wearing my sunglasses (sunnies) and said, "Well, we'll see if you still have them by the end of the river." He guided us down a trench sideways, and of course I was on the bottom. I got soaked, but I still have my sunglasses.
After the rafting, we drove to Pitlochry and had steak and ale pie for lunch. Oh my goodness, it was delicious! Meat and gravy smothered mashed potatoes, with some bread that was made from puff pastry. Soooo good!
After lunch, we were scheduled to have a presentation about Scottish fighting from a man named Alan Torrence. There was a miscommunication and we had to wait for an hour, but it was well worth it. He showed us how to tie a kilt and all the different ways to tie it. It truly was a multi functional garment. He showed us different weapons that the Scots used and was very charismatic and knowledgeable.
After Alan's talk, we let the kids get ice cream and then we drove on to Aviemore. Tomorrow we search for Nessie!
